File Transfer Protocol RFCs

File Transfer Protocol RFCs

File transfer was one of the first applications designed for the
Internet, and it is still a significant protocol. The current
standard, RFC 959, was published in 1985; the most recent RFC updating
that standard (RFC 2640) was published in 1999. The earliest RFC
listed here was published in 1971 – which is pretty dang early, if you
ask me. Not much use if you’re interested in doing FTP right now, but
I’ve included a few of these early ones for historical interest so you
can see how different the early RFCs are from more recent ones.
